Children In Need (2009)

This Friday sees BBC1 hand over to Children In Need 2009.

A few years ago Deacongirl and I recorded a song which she had co-written with the Children In Need cause in mind. Unfortunately the charity didn't take it up, but through Visionary Dictionary we now have a chance to earn a few pennies for the cause and for the song to complete the purpose for which it was written.

Please follow the web-link, listen to the song and, if you like it, it's yours to download All we ask is that you make a donation. One hundred percent of your donation will go to Children In Need.

Having done all that, please come back and tell us what you think of the song.

Here are the lyrics and thanks for you generosity.

Love from me and Deacongirl
Xx

Hold Me In Your Arms

Children are pure, children are joy
Growing with the season every girl and boy
Needing our love, knowing that there's someone there
Wrapped in the warmth of a caring soul
Listen to the words of fear
Hearing the cry of a child
Hold me in you arms tonight

Hold me in your arms like you've never been gone
Hold me in your arms tonight
Cos I can't carry on
Lest you hold me in your arms tonight

Strength can be yours, power can be mine
A child needs to learn a child needs time
Innocent hearts beating against the tide
It may be a whisper, it may be a scream
But you are the only one
Hearing the cry of a child
Saying hold me in your arms tonight

There'll come a time when they can stand against the world
But that's another time
So long
So long to go now
(Written by Karen Hunter and Tony Walker)

Lead vocals - Colin Reece and Karen Hunter; Guitars - Colin Reece and Tony Walker; Keyboards and percussion - Colin Reece; Backing vocals - Colin Reece, Karen Hunter and Drew Millin.

Many thanks to everyone for their pledges and donations. We managed to raise £130.00 for the little darlings. This post and the song will remain here, so any time someone feels like donating a little more feel free to do so. Once again thanks to all who helped either via our efforts or by other means, and to everyone else remember it's never too late. Love again from me and DG. xx

It didn't escape my notice that this post remained on the front page of Visionary Dictionary, both pre and post log-in, from the time of posting and throughout the entire Children In Need period (Hoppy made a suggestion to that effect). I can only assume this was as a result of some rather expert 'tweaking' by TGV and the remarkable Alan Jones and I'd like to express my thanks to them for that. Hopefully we'll have some kind of total soon. We did make three figures.

With accuracy the answer to that is I don't know Bill. The donations are going into TGV's Playground in the Sky account which only he has access to, so when he lets me know things have slowed we'll do a total then.

Great concert Jenny. The only thing missing was me and Deacongirl singing 'Hold Me In Your Arms'. Maybe next year.

I see your point but for me, I thought I'd say how much we'd donated so everyone can have a rough idea of how much has been raised so far by what is a fantastic song for an incredible cause.

I been thinking about my request to let us know if you decide to donate by other means and feel a person's generosity is his/her own business, so please don't feel obliged to say. But give anyway.

Thanks Hoppy very generous. If anyone else has any fears regarding PayPal or online banking in general then please, as Hoppy has, make your donation by whatever means you wish, but please make a donation. If you do can I ask you to let us know, just so we can keep a record of how much we managed to raise. If it's ok, from here on, rather than thanking everyone individually, I'll just say a BIG thanks after the w/e once I feel the donations slowing down.

Thanks Hoppy. If you click on one of the orange 'donate' buttons on the V Player it will take you to TGV's 'Playground In The Sky' PayPal page. Either log in if you have a PayPal account or use the 'continue' option if you don't. Your donation will then go to TGV's 'Playground In The Sky' account. Using that account was the only option we had to set this up. Either way your donation will then be passed on to Children In Need. This donation guide is applicable to all. Thanks for your help.
