Example: you have a table that you wish to sale or dispose of, but at the same time you are looking for new lights for your house, you would then place you table on the site and it would link you to people who are offering lights in return for other items and you may just come across someone who would like to swap thier lights for a table. Or you would be able to offer your table plus other items if you are in competiton with another 'swapper'. If there was noone looking to swap anything for a table at that time you would then be able to check the lights section and see what people would be willing to swap for the lights.
I realise there are already systems in place where people advertise thier old stuff and if you want it you can just go around and pick it up for free but why let it go for free if you can get something in return.
Swapper.com become huge as it appeals to everyone and it's enviromently friendly as people are keeping items in a network instead of the buy and throw away fad we are in at the moment. It may be cheaper to buy consumer goods at the moment but with a heavy ressesion in place and people at last valuing thier money, Swapper.com becomes the way to save money and shop for what you need at the same time. Take a minute and think of how the site would look, it would have items available and instead of money it would list the things the Swapper would be willing to excahnge for your item or if you're just looking you might just have something someone wants, the possibilties with dvds, computer games, books, and other such items would be massive.
There may be flaws in my master plan but it did only just pop into my head this afternoon maybe someone has already beaten me to the punch or maybe I am onto something?
Swapper.com (2015)
After inspiration from the great visioner Swapper.com becomes the number 1 way to save money and get the items you need online. Unlike ebay or other auction sites that require money, this auction site will be powered by the items you already have.
Example: you have a table that you wish to sale or dispose of, but at the same time you are looking for new lights for your house, you would then place you table on the site and it would link you to people who are offering lights in return for other items and you may just come across someone who would like to swap thier lights for a table. If I were you Surfboy I think I would rush out tomorrow and get this idea patented and up and running! Can you imagine (with internet shopping now becoming mega popular) many thousands of punters joining your scheme at a tenner a time? You would soon be a multi millionaire!! That in mind, you would have to employ many people to keep the site running 24/7 Ps your spelling and grammar is ok, your wife must have only been out for two minutes!

I guess i would have to have something that was a little different to other auction sites so unlike ebay or any other who you join for free and then pay commission on transactions.
On this site i think i would charge a one off joining fee say £10.
Then any transactioins after that no matter what size your item is you can put it on thier and not have to pay a thing, hopefully this would be an attraction for people to use the site i would hope. Who knows what people may want to swap, car parts for collectors, football tickets, dvds.
As for starting it up i think i would have to make it free to join for the first few hundread so thier is and actual market for people when they did join and pay thier £10 pounds.
Any more comments BH all welcome
Ps Sorry for spelling and grammer my wife is out.

Networks of locations would be an excellent idea and also 'meet halfway'. Not only would postage and packing be avoided but the actual 'swapper' could check the status of the item they desire! Swapper.com sounds a good idea but how would you charge punters for using your service?

Good point BH but with ebay anything of size is normally a pick up job or meet you halfway, I guess it's all down to each individual transaction. I would hope there would be plenty of choice with so many people using the site. There could be a side bar with 'distance willing to trave' or i could have networks of different locations for people to join, but i think postage would be something i would have to work out i only thought of this yesterday so comment is much appreciated.

Seems like a good idea Surfboy but: What happens if you live in Glasgow and want to swap an MFI three piece suite for a laptop and there is someone living in Portsmouth who wants to swap a laptop for an MFI three piece suite?? Not only would the cost of transporting the MFI three piece suite be astronomical for the Glasgow person when it finally arrived in Portsmouth the suite would be in a TOTALLY collapsed condition!!
